Publi\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1867, c’est le plus ancien des magazines de mode encore en circulation.<\/p>\n

Il est fond\u00e9 par les fr\u00e8res Harper, qui seront \u00e0 l’origine de Harper and Row. Le nom sera repris en 1962 pour fonder Harper and Collins. La Harper and Brothers sera rachet\u00e9e en 1913 par Hearst Corporation, un autre groupe de presse.<\/p>\n

Sa cible sont les lectrices de milieux sociaux moyens-hauts \u00e0 ais\u00e9s, ce en quoi ce magazine est directement concurrenc\u00e9 par Vogue.<\/p>\n

Il s’agissait au d\u00e9but d’une revue mondaine, puis de plus en plus d’illustration et de photographies de mode s’ins\u00e8rent dans les pages. Hebdomadaire \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts, il devient mensuel en 2001. Il est publi\u00e9 dans 19 pays, en comptant les Etats-Unis.<\/p>\n
